Another former Princes Street Gardens Santa has come forward to say he resigned from his position because children were being “rushed through on a conveyor belt”.

Mark Jeary, 43, quit after claiming he was repeatedly told to “speed up” the flow of young visitors to the grotto.

On Tuesday, the Evening News revealed how fellow Father Christmas Mike Daviot – who was labelled a “Bad Santa” by organiser Underbelly – had resigned for much the same reasons.

Both men claim that complaining to bosses led to counter-accusations that they had been “grumpy” with the children. Actor Mark said: “To accuse Mike and me of being grumpy with the children is absurd. We went out of our way to try to make it a memorable, happy experience for them – that’s why we were being hurried along.”
