EDINBURGH is second only to London for jobs growth, according to a new economic survey.
The Cities Outlook 2014 report showed Edinburgh had created 21,300 private sector jobs, but 3300 were lost in the public sector, giving a net increase of 6.5 per cent.
Aberdeen also made it into the top ten, rated eighth out of 63 major UK cities, but Glasgow was ranked 62nd.
Edinburgh economy convener Councillor Frank Ross said: “This is further evidence Edinburgh remains the most prosperous UK city outside London.
“Although smaller in scale, Edinburgh has many of the same attributes as London – strong international links, a number of world-leading sectors and the city is also a magnet for tourists.”
