EDINBURGH and the Lothians could be as hot as the French Riviera this week with temperatures reaching up to 28C midweek.
Temperatures are expected to start climbing from today, peaking on Wednesday but remaining high through to Sunday when a fresher front will see temperatures tumble back to normal.
A shift in the wind will suck hot air from Spain and France over Scotland and most parts will bask in glorious sunshine for six days.
With the heatwave pollen levels will be high while air quality will drop as smog from the continent settles over the country.
Met Office forecaster Gregory Wolverson said: “Temperatures of 26-27C on Wednesday would be a good safe bet, with 28C possible in the Lothians and southern Scotland.”
