Keane Wallis-Bennett’s mum has welcomed plans to bulldoze the gym where the teenager lost her life.
Grieving Abbie Wallis, 34, said the demolition at Liberton High School was the right decision. “It’s the right thing to do for the sake of the children,” she said.
The Evening News revealed the plans yesterday which include talks on a memorial to the tragic 12-year-old at the school. “It’s also nice that the school is keeping Keane’s memory alive,” Ms Wallis added. “I’m so grateful for that.”
The city council has pledged £2.5 million to extend the facility and PE lessons have already been switched to a separate building.
Education convener Paul Godzik said plans had had “overwhelming” support from both staff and parents.
