‘EDINBURGH Comic Con is a celebration of all things pop culture, and a realisation of my life-long fandom,” says 40-year-old James Lundy, who this weekend is set to welcome a galaxy of well known faces from TV and film to the Capital.

Edinburgh Comic Con (ECC), an annual fan convention, comes to the EICC this year, where fans will have the opportunity to meet guests from the worlds of comics, films and television, as well as win prizes for the best cosplay - where they dress up as their fictional hero or heroine.

“This year’s guest line-up is our best so far,” promises Lundy. “With actors such as Cas Anvar, who appeared as Dodi Fayed in the movie Diana and lent his voice to the video game Assassin’s Creed in the line-up.

“We also have Patricia Tallman, who many will remember as telepath Lyta Alexander in Babylon 5 and as Barbara in the 1990 remake of George Romero’s cult horror, Night of the Living Dead.

“Then there’s Arti Sha, who has appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars The Force Awakens, and Kerry Ingram, best known to Game of Thrones fans as Princess Shireen Baratheon.”

Top comic creators from Marvel, DC and 2000AD will also be there and include such names as Marco Rudy (Bucky Barnes: Winter Soldier), Chris Burnham (Batman and Robin) and Emma Beeby, the first to write a Judge Dredd comic strip.

As well as autographs and pictures attendees will also have the chance to check out displays of props and vehicles from their favourite productions.

Adding a futuristic feel to the occasion, the event will be patrolled by members of the United Kingdom Colonial Marine Corps, an costume group inspired by the Aliens films, who portray the Colonial Marines made famous by the second instalment of the franchise.

For gaming fans, meanwhile, there will be a chance to check out the new Halo Battlefleet from Spartan Games.

If however, dressing up is your thing, the two days climax with a cosplay competition, where the most convincing costume will win £500.
