MADNESS, New Order and Iron Maiden all have one. And now, one-time Spandau Ballet front man Tony Hadley is joining them.
We’re talking Celebrity Brews, and from Saturday there’s a chance to try out various pop stars’ tipples courtesy of Nicholson’s Beer Showcase.
As part of the month long event, music fans will be able to sample three celebrity brews from the nutty boys - Madness Gladnes, Madness Nightboat and Madness Absolutely - as well as having the chance to order a pint of New Order’s Moorhouse’s Stray Dog, or Hadley’s new IPA.
Part of a nationwide celebration, eight Edinburgh pubs will be taking part; The Conan Doyle on York Place, Deacon Brodies Tavern and The Mitre Bar on the Royal Mile, Greyfriars Bobby on Candlemaker Row, The Haymarket, West Maitland Street, The Last Drop on the Grassmarket, and Rose Street’s Kenilworth and Rose Street Brewery are the places to be.
Each will play host to offerings from some the UK’s best breweries, giving beer fans the opportunity to try a plethora of ales.
New beers will be served on rotation throughout the month, including seasonal autumn beers and cask ales, kegged craft beers and regional specialities.
The showcase will also feature ever popular selections from the likes of BrewDog and Sharps.
Events such as craft beer master-classes, beer sommelier tastings will also take place throughout the month at which guests can learn about the intricate brewing processes and the ingredients used, the principles of beer tasting as well as pairing beers with food.
