Combining Foals’ superior rhythmic nous with their own heady cocktail of tight, looping chords and clarity of purpose, Edinburgh quartet Blank Canvas are a refreshingly tight proposition. Joining them are Edward & The Itch, a band whose sound rhythms and wry lyrics can be vouched for with confidence.

Proudly boasting of their ambition to spread “like a rash all over the internets”, post-punk irritants Supermarionation are hearty, grassroots fare and, up until now, the sort of band whose reknown has been confined within their own firewalls. That said, the Edinburgh trio released their debut record in December last year, the irreverent if rather unpolished On The Fly EP, and have begun to emerge from their own hyperlink obscurity. Their show at the Wee Red Bar, gaining a quiet reputation as a hub for undiscovered talent, should see them take a step further into the real world.
