A SPECIAL one-off fund-raising performance of the smash hit musical I Ran With The Gang, the story of the Original Bay City Roller Alan Longmuir, has raised a four figure sum for Edinburgh Monarchs speedway team.

The sold out performance at Le Monde Hotel on Wednesday evening was arranged by Derek Wilkinson of Duddingston Private Hire and Scott Wilson in conjunction with Evening News Entertainment Editor Liam Rudden, a long time Monarchs fan who also wrote and directed the play.

Derek who fronts the Monarchs 100 fund-raising group with Scott said: “I saw the show last Fringe and thought it was brilliant. When Liam suggested a performance specially for Monarchs fans we jumped at the chance.

“It was a great night and everyone who was there thoroughly enjoyed it.”

The show was a warm up for the cast who travel to Toronto next week to entertain North America Bay City Rollers fans before returning to Le Monde for the Fringe.

Alan Longmuir, who is patron of Monarchs 100 added: “We all have a great time doing this show and it was fantastic to be able to support our local speedway team in this way. I’m really pleased everyone has a good night.”

I Ran With The Gang returns to Le Monde for a fourth Fringe run, 4-18 August. Tickets priced £15 are now available from 0131-226 0000
