PIANO, Piano was the Swiss entry in the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest. It didn’t win.
It’s also the name of new musical double-act that brings together award-winning musicians Hilary Brooks and Karen McIver at Dirty Martini, in Le Monde on George Street.
They’ll be hoping their use of the moniker brings them a bit more success, no doubt.
Tomorrow, the pair launch their debut album, Dedicated, a release which finds McIver and Brooks paying tribute to the iconic women who have changed the course of history.
Each composition on the album is dedicated to a female pioneer. From Hollywood legends such as Katharine Hepburn, to the ground breaking Amelia Earhart and Nobel prize-winning Marie Curie.
Performed on and composed for two grand pianos by the duo, the album features nine original tracks. Expect great things at tomorrow’s launch as Brooks’ recent credits include Sunshine on Leith, The Musical, while MacIver, is best known for her composition Flame, which was written for the Olympic Torch Relay and underscored the film of its journey to the London 2012 Games.
