FANCY a taste of Argentina at a bargain price? Cau Steakhouse on Castle Street are happy to oblige with the launch of their new set menu - two courses of contemporary Buenos Aires inspired cuisine for just £10.95, or three courses for £12.95.
The new menu, available Monday to Friday, between noon and 6.30pm, offers a wide range of favourites as well as a host of new dishes.
Start as you mean to go on and feast on the incredibly moreish Fish Tacos, crispy battered pollock served on blue tortillas with a smoky chipotle mayo. Or why not try the classic, crispy Salt & Pepper Squid. The perfect start to get the taste buds racing.
Move on to the mains there’s a selection of sizzling dishes. Back by popular demand is Cau’s Aubergine Lasagne, which replaces pasta with layers of aubergine - it’s piled high with aubergine, tomato, melted cheese and fresh basil.
For the carnivores looking for some meat to tuck into, the 220g of tender Tapa De Cuadril, cut from the top of the rump, is Cau’s signature dish. Served the Brazilian way, thinly sliced and flash grilled so it melts in your mouth, it comes with a peppery rocket salad and the choice of a side order, including thin or chunky chips, Truffle Mac ’n’ Cheese, or polenta.
Finally, if you’re going for the full three course option, there’s the Pina-Cau-lada or Dulce de Leche pancakes with vanilla ice cream and caramel for those with a sweet tooth.
Cau opened with a vision to replicate that vitality, passion and sense of fun of restaurants at the heart of Palermo, Buenos Aires.
With a menu that embraces the local cuisine, a melting pot of comfort food inspired by Italy and Spain alongside the jewel in Argentina’s crown, its mouth watering steaks, burgers and steak sandwiches.
All served with a distinctive Argentinian twist, it appears the spirit of Buenos Aires has indeed arrived in the Capital... and at a baragin price.
