Edinburgh-born pop star Nina Nesbitt has revealed that toy tortoises are among the bizarre gifts she receives from fans.
The 20-year-old singer said her fans – nicknamed “nesbians” – sent her hundreds of miniature models after a live tortoise featured in one of her music videos.
Nesbitt, from Balerno, said she had her tortoise gifts on display in the bedroom of her London flat.
“Everybody seems to like tortoises. I had one in an old music video and they thought it was mine and then it escalated.
“I’ve got loads in my room. People visit and they are like, ‘how old are you?’ There are definitely over a hundred.”
Aside from the tortoises, she said a dish of spaghetti carbonara – given to her to eat on her Cats and Carbonara Tour – was another favourite.
The singer-songwriter, who is also learning to drive, said she is not tempted to buy a flashy sports car just yet.
Instead, she has opted to drive her mum’s second hand Peugeot 207 while she builds her confidence.
Nesbitt added: “My dream car is a blue Cadillac.”
