ANGIE Darcy can currently be found playing the legendary Janis Joplin at Assembly Checkpoint.
On stage a woman stands, the greatest rock singer of her generation. Standing around her is the hottest band that a record company can buy. In front of her, an audience of thousands of expectant fans. She is Janis Joplin. She is utterly alone.
Following a sell-out run at Oran Mor’s A Play, A Pie and A Pint in 2013, Janis Joplin: Full Tilt blasts onto the Fringe.
Describe yourself: I’m a wee, 5ft 2in blonde. I’m honest, loyal and I like a good laugh - this feels like a dating profile.
What do you do? I’m an actress and a singer.
Best thing about doing what you do: When I get to perform and create work with my close friends and people I love and respect
Worst moment ever (on stage): Getting a horrific fit of the giggles that I could not control or stop
Worst moment ever (off stage): Having an anaphylactic reaction to something and ending up in hospital
Best Edinburgh memory: There are so many to choose from, but I think it has to be my birthday last year which I spent with my friends The Holy Ghosts at one of their gigs in the Voodoo Rooms and all our friends from the 27 Club being there, and having an amazing night out afterwards.
Plane or Train? Train, I’ve been on way too many scary planes.
If you weren’t an entertainer, what would you be? I’d work with animals in some way. I love animals.
Who was the last text you received, from? My boyfriend.
When was the last time you cried? On stage last night.
Are you on Twitter? Yup, @scuffette and @glassrootsband
