THERE is an abundance of brilliant clubs nights throughout the city, all perfect places to party and bring in the Bells.

Here is our guide to the best of them.

Hogmanay Special @ The Newsroom

QUALITY for a fiver, the party kicks off at 6pm, running on till 3am. Evening starts with the official Heavy Gossip and Musika DJs’ pre-party till 9pm, then it’s time to head downstairs for the best house, disco and minimal the Edinburgh underground has to offer.

A cracking DJ line-up includes Aqua Bassino, Ricky Reid, Harry Bennett, Ross Hutchison and Lel Palfrey (both pictured).

Cargo New Year Eve Full Moon Party

IF you fancy cranking up the heat Thai-style then Cargo is the place to go for a blissed out, Full Moon inspired party. With tripped out psychedelic sounds, Thai bites and the infamous Bucket of Joy, it’s one of the best ways to bring in the Bells.

We Love . . . Hogmanay – Musika, Heavy Gossip & Utragroove Present Julio Bashmore, Deetron and Jozif.

JULIO Bashmore is one of the biggest break-through artists of 2011. At the Liquid Room, he co-headlines with Swiss tech-house DJ Deetron – worth the ticket price alone in my book.

We Love . . . Ibiza resident Jozif will also be mixing up an impeccable blend of the best electronic music the underground has to offer. Runs 9pm until 5am.

BROKE NYE Party

CRAIG Wilson headlines alongside Colours DJs James Christie and Grant Hamilton for a night of house and electro. Nick G heads up the RnB room with Beef and Dansco, while the Cheese Factory plays the best brie anyone can handle featuring Johnny Star and Gus Bain. £10 advanced or £20 at the door. 9pm–5am.

Lava Ignite, Tollcross, 0131-228 3252

NYE @ City Café with Martin Valentine and Steven Wanless (FREE)

EDINBURGH’S most respected pre-clubbing venue opens its doors till 3am for a night of funk, soul and disco. DJs Valentine and Wanless ran the successful Friskydisco for six years and are making a marked return after recent appearances at Mondoloco and recording on Wired For Sound. Not to be missed.

Departure Lounge Hogmany Bash @ The Caves

DUE to a huge demand for Edinburgh’s most eclectic club night, The Caves has opened up another room for this Hogmanay event. Featuring nine-piece gypsy brass band Orkestra Del Sol, Soul Foundation, a ten-piece classic Soul group, Edinburgh Samba School and MC Conscious Route, a 15-piece drum ensemble, as well as residents Astroboy, Mr Zimbabwe, Jiminez and Wastepicker. Expect a festival vibe in the cavernous club we all know and love. Excellent.

Mark Knight Presents: Toolroom Knights 5th Birthday Tour NYE – Edinburgh

TOOLROOM Records is one of the biggest labels in the world, created by Mark Knight. Knight will be joined by other Toolroom legends Ramirez, Mark Storie and Edinburgh’s Derek McNee and Tony Moran. Knight runs Toolroom Records and his contribution to dance music is arguably unparalleled. His production work on the Black Eyed Peas album The End achieved nominations for a Grammy this year.

Expect a massive production with lasers, confetti showers, New Year countdown and much, much more. 9pm–4am, tickets £27-£35.

Ocean Terminal, 0131-220 3234

Gasoline Dance Machine NYE Party

THE biggest club residents party features 2011 phenomenon Cheap Picasso, Kris Wasabi and up-and-coming DJ Johnny Herd mixing up the best, traditional disco, 80s and nu-disco.

Room two sees the Rendezvous DJs, the Harrower brothers, mixing up the best in avant garde house music, while the Ladies On Rotation take over The Speakeasy for a night of fried funk, sexy soul and dirty disco. Priced at a cool tenner, sounds good to me. 10pm–5am.
