THIS week in Shieldinch... the Mullens’ marital problems run deep and a desperate Scarlett does the unthinkable to keep her man; bride-to-be Gina feels like the luckiest woman alive when fiancé Greg takes charge of the wedding finances; and Gareth struggles with the two contrasting sides of his life.
It’s the day of Jimmy’s court case but Scarlett (Sally Howitt) is distracted by a letter from the hospital for a cancer check-up. And when Bob (Stephen Purdon) tells her Jimmy (Billy McElhaney) doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to move back home, Scarlett fears she’s losing her husband for good.
Later, a tipsy Scarlett arrives back home from Gina’s hen night and makes a move on Jimmy – who spurns her advances. Then, the next morning, a hung-over Scarlett is recalled to hospital after abnormal test results. Fearing Scarlett’s cancer has returned, Jimmy offers his support but reconciliation isn’t guaranteed.
When Scarlett’s results come through, she’s overcome with emotion which Jimmy misreads as bad news. And before she can set the record straight, Scarlett unwittingly finds herself swept along with the deception.
Elsewhere, Gina (Libby McArthur) worries about last-minute wedding plans until Greg (George Anton) steps in, offering to deal with the finances. Claiming he’s lost his bank card, Gina gives him Malcolm’s (Johnny Beattie) bank details to borrow the money, promising to repay it later. However, Greg isn’t quite the gentleman everyone thinks he is.
As Gareth (Paul Brannigan) struggles to strike a balance between his criminal connections with Billy Kennedy (Alexander Morton) and homelife with Nicole (Holly Jack), he considers leaving Shieldinch for good.
