APPHIA Campbell has a Nina Simone song to relate to every incident in her life, told in this cabaret show.

Assembly, Bristo Place
Her musical journey takes audiences all over the world from New York to Shanghai, where she taught.
As fantastic a singer as Campbell is, the show is a bit of a slow burner, taking a while to fully engage the audience, but when she has them captured there’s a ripple of participation while she sings.
Her story is engaging as she expands on her struggles as a black woman, peaking at the point where she relates a song to accepting herself as she is, and how she relates to her jazz icon Nina Simone.
At times however, Campbell lacks that authentic Nina Simone jazz style.
