SECONDS out, grapple fans, the World Wide Wrestling League (W3L) is bringing more live American-style wrestling to the Honest Toun.
On Friday, Musselburgh’s Brunton Theatre is for an explosive evening of body-slamming action culminating in the Musselburgh debut of former WWE star Joe E Legend.
As main attractions go, Legend certainly fits the bill. He began wrestling in Canada in 1992 before joining successful tag team Sex and Violence, which in turn were part of a bigger gang, Thug Life.
Nearly 25 years after he first stepped in a ring, the 6ft 1in tall wrestler is certainly living up to his catchphrase: “Heroes come and heroes go, but legends live forever.”
The current W3L Heavyweight Champion, 47-year-old Legend will be defending his belt against Scotland’s 28-year-old Iron Man Joe Coffey, the first ever Scottish wrestler to perform in Japan’s famous Korakuen Hall.
The evening will be the third time Scottish-based wrestling promotion W3L have brought their flagship event, Wrestlution, to the East Lothian town and they reveal a host of exciting wrestling stars are set to join Legend, including talent from W3L’s weekly internet show, Wrestling Showdown.
Also in the ring will be former W3L Women’s Champion Sara, making a return challenge for the title she last held ten years ago, when she defeated WWE star Britani Knight aka Paige, for the coveted title at the first ever Wrestlution.
Completing the bill will be a Golden Ticket Ladder match featuring Tranent based doctor, Danny ‘Boy’ Rodgers.
