NEXT month’s T in the Park will be the last one held at Balado after organisers were forced to move the festival.
A “top secret” new site is said to have been earmarked for the 2015 gig with Stirling and Loch Lomond tipped as possible locations.
The event, which boasts crowds of up to 85,000 people, was put in jeopardy after Health and Safety Executive chiefs said they were concerned about the BP Forties oil pipeline which lies directly underneath the disused airfield.
The pipe carries crude oil from the North Sea to the petrochemical complex at Grangemouth with HSE officials advising Perth and Kinross Council that holding the festival on the site was a “susbstantial concern”.
The annual three-day festival began in 1994 at Strathclyde Park, in Lanarkshire, before moving to the bigger site in 1997.
This year’s event is to be held between July 11 and July 13.
