Have your say

OL’ Blue Eyes is back at the Whitespace Gallery, Gayfield Square. Sitting in a hospital bed, reminiscing with a young nurse about his glittering career, Frank Sinatra remembers the good, and not so good, times.

Whether you love Sinatra or just good music, you can’t fail to be impressed by the calibre of his back catalogue. Even if, like young nurse Rosie, you’re only familiar with the cover versions.

There are some lovely performances. Sadie Paton as Barbara Sinatra is immediately engaging. Sarah MacGillivray is a delightfully gauche Rosie. And Moray Innes’ has a real flair for the great crooner’s ballads.

The major flaw is the script. It staggers through the various stages of Sinatra’s life and beyond a sense of Sinatra’s yawning regret, we don’t learn much that is new. Still, a nicely considered piece of theatre.
