MARTYN Lawrence Bullard has spent years working his way up Los Angeles’ society ladder via his profession as an interior designer, and now boasts a client list that includes Elton John, Cher, Aaron Sorkin, the Osbournes and Christina Aguilera.
Bullard has also presented several US shows, and now he’s bringing his unique style to the UK for this new, six-part series - and we’re promised that his renovations will please their home’s owner, and will be standing for many years to come.
“Martyn is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after and flamboyant interior designers and we are delighted that he is bringing his unique touch of eccentricity and celebrity glamour to unsuspecting members of the British public,” says Channel 4’s Dominic Bird.
In each edition Martyn jets a British resident to California for a makeover, while he transforms their home into a luxury pad. In the first episode he visits Peterborough, where hard-working mother of quads Emily Bates is in need of some TLC.
In LA, she’s taken under the wing of Sharon Osbourne, who takes her on an amazing shopping spree. Meanwhile, back home, Martyn sets to work, giving Emily’s Peterborough pad an injection of Hollywood glamour - but will she be impressed with the results?
Executive producer Rob Butterfield is confident all participants will be thrilled. “With the weather, the economy and the news so gloomy, Hollywood Me brings some much needed La-la Land sunshine, A-List eccentricity and makeovers to die for.
“Martyn is a great interior designer - he’s witty, incredibly talented, but a fish out of water working in the UK suburbs rather than the Hollywood Hills. And our contributors really do have the times of their lives as they’re whisked over to LA for a day of A-list treatments with one of their favourite celebs.”
