Free picture books are being given to every primary one child in Scotland to encourage them to get into reading.
The packs are being gifted by the Scottish Book Trust to mark Book Week Scotland, which gets under way on Monday.
Every child will receive three books, all by Scottish authors or illustrators, as well as an activity booklet and a voting slip to choose their favourite read.
The titles are: There’s a Bear on My Chair by Ross Collins, Hare and Tortoise by Alison Murray and Shark in the Park on a Windy Day by Nick Sharratt.
Scottish Book Trust chief executive Marc Lambert said: “The beginning of school is the point at which books start to become associated with learning in a child’s mind.
“The bookbug primary one family bag has been designed to show children how pleasurable and fun reading can be.
“The intention is to help them to get more out of school and inspire them to seek out and devour more books.”
This year’s Book Week Scotland runs from Monday until Sunday 27 November.
