THE largest and most successful pet slimming competition – which has helped more than 100 overweight animals lose 63 stone over the past decade – is on the hunt for more contestants.
These portly pets then battle it out to be crowned the UK’s pet slimmer of the year.
Last year’s winner was ‘Kayla’, a Mastiff who slimmed down from 61kg to 44kg - that’s 29 per cent of her bodyweight.
On signing her up, owner Agnes Higgins admitted to having spoilt her dog.
“The only thing she doesn’t like to eat is peas but other than that she’ll eat pretty much anything,” she said. “She doesn’t steal food but she does give you the puppy dog eyes and I’ve fallen for them far too many times.”
The deadline for entries is March 6. To enter your pet, and for information about keeping your pet healthy, visit https://www.pdsa.org.uk/get-involved/our-current-campaigns/pet-fit-club.
