SCOTLAND’S new national fire chief has praised his crews after a busy first week as a
single service.

Firefighters were called to 527 incidents in just 24 hours across Scotland between Wednesday and Thursday, after a spate of road accidents as well as wildfires in the
Highlands.

Chief fire officer Alasdair Hay said: “Crews have worked tirelessly to respond quickly and effectively to a great number of challenging situations.”
