A BUS firm is to donate £1 to a cancer charity for every journey booked on its website next week.

First Scotland East has joined the operator’s nationwide campaign and hopes to help raise £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Passengers will also be able to take part in an online vote to decide on a charity to benefit from a further £500 donation.

The offer is part of Catch the Bus Week, which begins on Monday.

John Gorman, operations director at First Scotland East, said: “We wanted to do something a little bit different to encourage people to use the bus during Catch the Bus Week.

“So, if customers use the bus more than they would normally next week, we want them to register those extra journeys with us on-line so that we can donate £1 to Macmillan.”

Sally Hill, account manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “This is a fantastic initiative. We are very grateful to First Scotland East and its customers for their support.”
