A PLUSH complex of Georgian townhouses – commanding rents of £425 per night – has been crowned the UK’s best luxury hotel following a survey of TripAdvisor reviews.
The five-star Chester Residence in the West End topped the poll of top British hotels seeing off competition from rivals in London, Prague and Rome.
It was also listed seventh in the pecking order of top European hotels.
Boasting 23 townhouse apartments and the option of a private walled garden in some suites, the Chester Residence has attracted an “excellent” rating from more than 1000 guests – and only ranked “poor” four times.
The family-run firm scooped the top luxury hotel gong in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards.
It is the third time the hotel has been recognised by Trip-Advisor having previously been named best small hotel of the year as well as the top UK and European luxury hotel in 2014. Owner Graham Wood said: “We’re a small family-run hotel which allows us the flexibility and individuality to tailor our guests’ experience so they get the absolute most from their stay.
“We are continuously developing the hotel and the products we order, and our aim is always to be one step ahead of the competition in both service and products.
“We also pride ourselves on attention to detail, from the minute guests make contact with us through to the end of their stay.”
And he added: “It’s always great to receive feedback and winning these coveted awards is the highest compliment.
“Our team works exceptionally hard to ensure each guest’s stay is as luxurious and enjoyable as possible.

A night in a Chester Residence apartment starts at £165 but can run to £325 for a VIP stay which includes a cinema room and private walled garden.
One recent guest described the experience as “welcoming, warm and a beautiful place”. They added: “The rooms are large and well set-out, comfortable and clean.
“The personal touches are amazing – popcorn when you fetch a DVD to watch, Molton Brown bath products, welcome gifts, gifts to see you into the New Year and above all, friendly service.”
It is also ranked first of all 144 similar hotels registered on TripAdvisor. The hotel has now received 17 industry awards in total since it first opened for business in 2006.
