FIVE times world indoor bowls champion Alex “Tattie” Marshall has spoken of his pride at being chosen to carry the Scottish flag at Sunday’s closing ceremony.
The Tranent star, 47, said Glasgow 2014 has been one of his career highlights.
“When I heard the news I was to carry the flag at the closing ceremony I was very, very honoured,” he said.
His ‘get it up ye’ gesture after beating England in the Men’s Pairs with Paul Foster caused a stir and was likened to Usain Bolt’s lightning bolt.
He was part of the quartet with Foster, David Peacock and Neil Spiers to beat the old foe again in the final of Men’s Fours.
Tattie will carry the flag in the ceremony which will see Kyle Minogue, Lulu and Deacon Blue will bring down the curtain on the 11-day sporting extravaganza.
The show will pay homage to Bill Forsyth’s 1981 film Gregory’s Girl, while the cast will perform slosh.
