Generous football fans have helped pay for a Sighthill teenager’s new wheelchair.

Mathew Noir has Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus which means he has had a lot of major surgery since birth, has limited mobility and uses a wheelchair to get around.

The popular 19-year-old has not let his disability hold him back and lives life to the full.

Writing on a JustGiving fundraising page, his friend Emma Fordie wrote: “Mathew has spent many years fighting battles to land himself a position within the football world and recently that has happened.”

She continued: “Following a spell of volunteering at Spartans Connections FC, he has now been given the role of Assistant Manager to one of their teams. This is an enormous achievement which has only been reached following many physical and mental health battles over a number of years.”

The JustGiving page quickly gained nearly £2,000 in donations after Hibernian FC, comedian Jason Manford and local businesses shared links to the page on social media.
