POLICE today renewed their appeal for witnesses to the attack on Hibs star Gary Deegan which left the player with a broken jaw.
The 25-year-old Irishman was punched in the face by a man near the Hard Rock Cafe in George Street at around 3am on Sunday. A police spokeswoman said no arrests had yet been made over the assault, and urged anyone who was in the area at the time to contact officers.
Deegan, who signed for the Easter Road club this summer, underwent an operation on Monday and is expected to be out of action for a number of weeks.
The midfielder had earlier been in the nearby Le Monde nightclub with team-mates celebrating his side’s 3-0 win over Dundee.
The suspect is described as white, over 6ft tall, between 20 and 25-years-old with a slim build and short fair hair spiked at the front. He was wearing a checked shirt, dark skinny jeans and dark shoes.
