THE funeral of artist John Bellany is to take place at St Giles’ Cathedral on Tuesday next week.
The acclaimed East Lothian-born painter died in the studio at his home in England last week, aged 71, with a paintbrush in his hand.
His family hope the coffin can be driven from his home town of Port Seton, taking in his much-loved harbour en route to the Capital.
Bellany’s death prompted tributes from far and wide, praising him as one of Scotland’s greatest contemporary artists and “a true Scottish giant”. A retrospective exhibition of his work was staged at the National Gallery last year.
