Lochend boxer Josh Taylor is through to tomorrow’s Commonwealth Games 64kg final after a unanimous victory over Englishman Samuel Maxwell at the SECC Precinct today.

The 23-year-old will now contest the gold medal bout against Namibia’s Junias Jonas at the SSE Hydro tomorrow with 10,000 spectators expected to roar the Scotsman on.

Taylor won silver in the 60kg weight category four years ago in Delhi as a teenager but now has the opportunity to go one better this time round in front of his own fans.

The contest is scheduled to get underway at 4.45pm tomorrow afternoon.
