Double-gold medal-winning bowls hero Alex “Tattie” Marshall was welcomed back to work with the sound of popping corks, as colleagues held a surprise reception for the Commonwealth Games star from Haddington.
Workmates at Crystals in Haddington, where 47 year-old Alex is the warehouse manager, toasted his performances at the Glasgow games with a bottle of champagne.
He said: “I’ve been back home since Sunday, but I’ve not really come down to earth just yet. I was meant to be back on Tuesday, but they were kind enough to give me another day off. I’ve got so much to catch up on so it’s back to reality.”
Alex’s wins in bowls pairs and as skipper of the four also won him the honour of carrying the Saltire in the closing ceremony.
