THE manager of Gorgie City Farm has announced the site’s cafe will be closing permanently at the end of this month.
City residents have been left saddened by the news, with many taking to social media to express their opinions.
Deborah Mullen wrote on the farm’s Facebook page: “Don’t close it.
“The cafe is one of the big highlights of visiting.”
Nada Gobran wrote: “Why? It’s one of my favourite places in Scotland.”
Gorgie City Farm has been a much-loved part of the local community in Edinburgh for 30 years.
It has emerged the cafe will close its doors on January 29 due to “financial sustainability.”
John Teasdale, the farm’s acting general manager, said: “The decision to close the cafe was made by the farm board regrettably.
“It was related to the financial sustainability.
“We regret making the decision but we had to think about our financial situation.”
