Greyfriars Bobby’s nose has gone missing yet again after being rubbed the wrong way by tourists and residents seeking good luck.

The new damage comes just a year since a £400 nose job to repair the iconic statue on George IV Bridge.

City culture convener councillor Richard Lewis appealed to passers-by to be gentle when trying to get their piece of good fortune, saying: “The rubbing does cause damage.”

The Skye terrier became legend after keeping a vigil by his master’s grave for fourteen years before his own death in 1872.
