Alzheimer’s study hopes

Earlier diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease could be a step closer thanks to research by scientists at Edinburgh University.

They studied cerebrospinal fluid to find exosomes – tiny particles that are released by cells into bodily fluids.

It is hoped that changes in the proteins contained in the exosomes could indicate Alzheimer’s.

The study was funded by both Alzheimer’s Research UK and the British Heart Foundation.
