A HOUSEHOLDER who chased a woman down the street and viciously attacked her after she threw stones at his window has been jailed.
Walter Hunter, 42, seized Elizabeth Tennant by the hair and dragged her along the ground during the violent attack.
Then – as horrified witnesses looked on – he stood over her and repeatedly punched and kicked her on the head and body as she lay on the ground.
Hunter, from Bathgate, was jailed for 18 months for the attack when he appeared for sentence at Livingston Sheriff Court today.
A jury earlier found him guilty of assaulting Miss Tennant to the danger of her life during the incident in Cochrane Street, Bathgate, on April 8, 2011.
He was given a concurrent sentence of five months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to breaching bail failing to turn up at court on April 4 this year.
Glenn Fraser, defending, produced a petition signed by Hunter’s neighbours claiming he was “a good neighbour, a good friend and a committed member of the community”.
