POLICE are set to quiz medics at St John’s Hospital, Livingston, who sent a baby home with Calpol just 12 hours before she died from meningitis.

Officers will take statements from doctors and nurses involved in the care of five-month-old Leah Carroll before prosecutors decide if a further inquiry is needed.

Mum Tanya Yeats, 23, from East Calder, said: “We hope the police find out the truth about what happened to our little girl.”

A police spokesman said: “We are assisting the Crown Office and procurator fiscal with inquiries relating to the death.”
