A HEARTS fan is to stand trial accused of hurling furniture across a busy pub during a brawl after a Premiership match last season.
John Meikle is alleged to have “acted aggressively” and committed a breach of the peace at the Lloyds Capital bar in Dundee’s Seagate on April 27 last year.
He is also accused of “culpably and recklessly throwing an item of furniture through the air causing it to strike the bar area to the danger of the lieges”.
Prosecutors say Meikle was on a journey from the match between Dundee and Hearts at Dens Park when the incident took place.
Meikle, 31, of Wester Drylaw Park, Edinburgh, was not in court to face the charges against him.
Fiscal depute Bill Kermode said Meikle’s solicitors had submitted a letter pleading not guilty on his behalf.
Sheriff Charles Macnair QC set a trial date in March and ordered Meikle to appear for a pre-trial hearing in February.
