Hibernian goalkeeper Mark Oxley is in the running for August’s goal of the month after netting a historic winner on his home debut

The on-loan Easter Roan stopper became the first Hibs keeper to score since Andy Goram in 1988 as his hopeful punt bounced over the head of his helpless Livingston counterpart Darren Jamieson to secure a 2-1 win.

Oxley is up against Edinburgh rival Sam Nicholson, who lit up last month’s derby with a stunning effort from distance as Hearts claimed a 2-0 win at Tynecastle.

Aberdeen duo Niall McGinn and Nicky Low have been nominated for their screamers from outside the box against a shell-shocked Partick Thistle, while Mario Bilate’s first ever goal for Dundee United has also got a nod.

Greg Tansey (Inverness), Craig Gunn (Elgin), Lewis Milne (Cowdenbeath), Joe McKee (Morton) and Scott Davidson (Annan) make up the 10 nominees for the first goal of the month competition of the season.

The award is chosen by supporters, who are invited to vote for their favourite on the official SPFL YouTube page.
