Olympian Sir Chris Hoy has launched a bid to encourage families all over the country to get on their bikes and spend quality time together.
The Highland Spring Summer Cycling Challenge, which starts on July 1, sets families the target of cycling a combined total of 100km over the course of eight weeks.
Participants can log their progress online, where they will be rewarded by messages from Sir Chris and virtual trophies when they reach Bronze (30km) and Silver (65km) milestones. Families who complete the challenge and cycle the full 100km will receive a downloadable gold trophy and certificate.
Sir Chris said: “The Highland Spring Summer Cycling Challenge gives families the perfect opportunity to do something free, fun and healthy this summer. There are great cycle paths throughout the UK, and the Challenge is a fantastic way to get out and explore your local area – parts that you probably don’t get to see from a car or a bus.”
