POLICE are trying to trace a man who suffered a head injury after being knocked down by a car but left the scene before an ambulance arrived.

The accident happened on the A199 near to its junction with Old Post Road in Tranent, East Lothian, at around 4.30pm yesterday.

The man was hit by a white Vauxhall Astra and sustained a head injury but quickly left the scene.

He is white, in his early 20s, around 5ft 7in, with short dark hair and was wearing a dark hooded top and blue jeans. Police believe he may be from Eastern Europe. Officers are also appealing for witnesses.
