Hollywood star James McAvoy is to join author Irvine Welsh in the Capital for the world premiere of Filth.
The 34 year old actor, best known for playing Charles Xavier in X-Men: First Class, will join director John S Baird and the author for the star-studded premiere at the Vue Omni on Leith Street.
Filth, which was filmed in the Capital, tells the story of corrupt police officer Bruce Robertson, played by McAvoy, who finds himself drawn further and further into a web of deceit as he battles to solve a murder and secure a promotion, while attempting to ruin the reputations of his colleagues.
Adapted from Welsh’s best-selling novel, the film also stars Jamie Bell, Imogen Poots, Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent and Shirley Henderson.
A Glasgow premiere will also take place next Tuesday before the film goes on general release on Friday 27.
