Knife raiders cut man’s ear

A MAN was slashed in the ear after being attacked in his own home by thugs wielding knives.

The 52-year-old is understood to have lost a chunk of his ear in the incident, and needed stitches to the injury.

He was assaulted by men who burst into his home in Piershill Place at around 2pm on Thursday.

A police spokesman said: “Anyone who can assist officers with their inquiries is asked to come forward.”

Meanwhile, a man suffered a head injury after being punched by a pair of thugs in a daylight assault. The 25-year-old was taken to hospital after the incident in Annandale Street on Thursday afternoon.

A police spokesman said: “Inquiries are ongoing and anyone who can assist police with their investigation is asked to come forward immediately.”
