A MOTHER from East Lothian who set up an art therapy charity for sick children after losing her eight-year-old daughter to cancer is in the running to be named a supermarket’s Mum of the Year.
Laura Young, 45, was devastated at the death of her daughter Verity, who had spent most of her short life in hospital.
But Verity had taken comfort in art as a way of escaping her illness and Laura channelled her grief into setting up The Teapot Trust, which last year provided 3000 children in hospitals with art therapy.
It was named in memory of Verity’s love of the tea parties her family threw for her to raise her spirits while she was in hospital.
Laura was shortlisted for the Tesco Mum of the Year from thousands of UK nominations.
