Thieves have stripped lead from the roof of a local Yacht Club.

In the first of three metal theft incidents reported to police in North Berwick, lead was reported to have been removed from the roof of East Lothian Yacht Club on Saturday, October 12.

On Tuesday, October, 15, a small quantity of lead was removed from a roof at a business on Victoria Road in North Berwick, causing significant damage, and approximately 1 tonne of lead was stolen from an industrial unit in Musselburgh.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Not only is the theft of metal costly to business, but significant damage is often done to the structures of the buildings in the process.

“Anyone who has any information relating to the theft of metal or has seen any suspicious activity should not hesitate to contact police, whilst all business owner should remain vigilant with their security.”
