An appeal has been launched after a leopard gecko was found dumped inside a plastic container in a garden in the Capital.
The Scottish SPCA was alerted after the lizard was found under a bush in a communal garden in the Silvermills area.
The animal welfare charity has already found a new home for him, but members of the public are being urged to come forward with any information about the abandoned pet.
Inspector Emma Phillips said, “Abandoning the gecko in a plastic tub was extremely cruel and whoever did this couldn’t have been sure he would receive the help he needed.
“He was left inside a clear plastic container with air-holes, but there was no guarantee he would have been discovered.
“We’re asking anyone who recognises this gecko or saw someone in the area acting suspiciously to contact us on 03000 999 999.
“Thankfully, the gecko is in good health and has already been offered a new home where he will receive the care and attention he needs.”
