Linlithgow Rose eased into the Fife and Lothians Cup quarter-finals with a 4-1 win away to Bathgate Thistle thanks to a Colin Strickland hat-trick.
Rose will host Penicuik Athletic in the last-eight at Prestonfield, but they were given a real scare in the opening minute against the Premier League strugglers at Creamery Park.
The home side went ahead after just 40 seconds of the third-round tie against Danny Smith’s side, who made three changes from the 1-1 draw at home to Newtongrange Star on Saturday, Darren Wilson scoring.
Striker Strickland levelled after 23 minutes, before he got a second not long after to put Rose in front. Recent signing Alex King from Bonnyrigg Rose grabbed his second goal for his new club in just three days before the break.
Strickland hit another at the start of the second half and Rose went in search of more, but found Bathgate goalkeeper Ryan Adamson in form.
Rose visit Fauldouse United tomorrow night on league duty for their fifth match in 11 days.
