A LORRY caused traffic chaos in the Cameron Toll area after the driver struck a low bridge and spilled his load of oat cakes all over the road.

Police were called out at 4.38am after the high-sided wagon hit a nearby railway bridge, spilling its contents close to the junction of old Dalkeith Road.

A force spokesman said the road was temporarily closed to remove the load.

But at 7.34am, the lorry was cleared and the A7 was flowing freely again.
