THE City Bypass has reopened after an overturned lorry which shed its load caused severe congestion.

Police advised that the westbound bypass between Dreghorn and Baberton had been closed following the accident, which happened at 2.20pm.

It was reopened at 6.30pm.

A Scania tipper lorry’s trailer came loose and scattered a large quantity of paper and polystyrene over the road.

No one was injured, however, the westbound carriageway is completed closed and is likely to remain so for some time.

Further road updates will be released in due course.

Officers said recovery work was in progress but warned drivers to expect lengthy delays.

Motorists are advised to take alternative routes while the debris is cleared and the truck is recovered.
