Police are appealing for information after an 80-year-old man was assaulted and robbed in his own home.
The incident, which happened at an address on Buchanan Street at around 9.20am on Saturday, saw a man force his way into the home of the pensioner before making off with a cash sum. No other items were stolen.
Police and emergency services were alerted immediately and ambulance crews treated the victim for a minor injury on the scene.
Now concerned officers have launched a bid to trace the culprit as “a matter of urgency.”
The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s. He is around 5ft 6” in height, with a medium build and short brown hair.
Detective Inspector John Kavanagh said: “This was a distressing incident for the victim. We are eager to trace this suspect as a matter of urgency.
“Anyone who saw a male matching the suspect description in the Buchanan Street area yesterday, or has any other relevant information, is asked to contact police immediately.”
