POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted after a disturbance outside a pub.

The 30-year-old victim was in the Harp and Castle pub on Leith Walk with two friends on Thursday night, when they were involved in a minor incident outside the pub with three men, around 8.50pm.

The victim left the pub around 9pm, and was making his way along Arthur Street when he was confronted by the same group of three men, two of whom assaulted him.

The assault ended when the third man intervened, and the trio then headed back towards Leith Walk.

Police today issued a description of the three men, and asked for anyone who can help identify them to come forward.

The first man is described as white, aged 30 to 35, around 5ft 8in tall, dark brown hair, and wearing a baseball cap, light blue jeans, white trainers and a yellow and black striped shirt.

The second man is described as white, in his early 20s, around 5ft 7in tall, slim build, with short blond hair that is possibly bleached, clean shaven, and wearing a grey Nike tracksuit, white trainers and an black Adidas baseball cap, worn to the back of the head.

The third man is described as white, late 30s, dark short hair, medium build, clean shaven, and wearing a dark suit and smart shoes.
