A THUG tried to kill a man in retaliation for assaulting three of his friends during a confrontation at a bus stop, a court has heard.
James Power, 28, repeatedly struck Stuart Glen with a golf club before stamping on his head during a frenzied attack in Gorebridge, Midlothian.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard yesterday how Power went on the rampage in the early hours of May 5.
The court was told Mr Glen had confronted the three young men the previous night, and that the youths then told Power what happened to them, prompting him to go looking for Mr Glen. He found the victim sleeping on a sofa at a party and left him covered in blood and unconscious.
Power, a prisoner of HMP Kilmarnock, pleaded guilty to attempted murder before judge Lord Bannatyne. Sentence was deferred until next month.
